Designation Programs


Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) are recognized for their expertise and commitment to the industry.

The CIC program is nationally recognized and highly respected insurance professional designation for agency owners, producers, agents, CSR's, brokers, and insurance company personnel.
This designation is recommended for:

  • Licensed agents, brokers, and adjusters
  • Insurance professionals with at least two years of full-time insurance or risk management experience
  •  Full-time insurance faculty members who have taught for at least two years at an accredited college or university

Earning the Designation

  • You must successfully complete five CIC courses and pass five exams within five calendar years. To earn the designation, participants must score 70% or better on the two-hour, essay style exam.

The Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation empowers outstanding individuals to provide exceptional account management and customer service.


The CISR designation program is a nationally recognized educational program for customer service representatives. This practical program includes 9 courses focused on minimizing E&O claims and understanding and analysis of risks and exposures. Some working knowledge of the applicable policies is required.

Earning the Designation

  • To earn the CISR designation you must complete five courses and successfully pass the examination that follows each course within three calendar years following the year in which you pass your first exam. Participants must score 70% or better on the one-hour, multiple choice exam. To keep the designation, you must update each year with additional continuing education.

Associate in Insurance Account Management (AIAM) The comprehensive professional designation is the only non-technical customer service account designation approved by IIABA's Best Practices Council.


 The web-based video-on-demand curriculum (taken in any order) is geared toward helping account representatives and managers obtain the needed skills to provide the best service possible to clients. This leads to improved customer satisfaction, which increases account retention and decreasing E&O exposures of your agency is designed for account managers/executives, customer service representatives and office staff. Such an important part of understanding the insurance industry is learning how to properly manage and service your agency books of business. Session topics offered include:

  •  customer service skills
  • negotiation skills
  • leadership
  • the psychology of customer relationships
  • conflict resolution
  • telephone skills
  • stress management
  • workflow habits
  • ethics, and more.


Earning the Designation:

  • Once the Designation package is purchased, the individual sessions must be completed in 60 days and once the exam is started you must complete it within 30 days.
  • Once you have completed all 13 sessions you will be guided on how to access the test.
  • Your state association will confer your designation completion.

Please note: There is no continual education requirements to maintain this valuable designation.
