October 26, 2026

This week’s Monday Morning with Denise closes out October with several timely BIGiOK opportunities, beginning with the Nov. 3 Disaster Ethics Playbook education session focused on fairness, fidelity and defensible file practices when handling claims after events such as floods, fires and tornadoes. Denise and Jerry also preview Catalyit’s Oct. 28–29 GetLYIT annual technology conference, which will feature a strong emphasis on AI tools and agency technology, and highlight the Young Agents’ Oct. 29 community service project at Free to Live Animal Sanctuary. The episode also notes an upcoming BIGiOK board meeting and looks ahead to a busy holiday season. With no featured guest this week, the conversation stays relaxed and seasonal, wrapping up with National Cat Day, rescue-pet stories and a lighthearted Halloween sendoff.

(0:04 – 0:20)

Good morning to ya, hey. It’s really great to see ya, it’s great to see ya. Good morning. I was looking up something. Here, let me do my creepy Halloween voice.

(0:21 – 0:24)

What, go ahead. Okay, well, hello. Hello.

(0:27 – 0:31)

Monday, October the 26th. Yes. Halloween.

(0:31 – 0:35)

2026. The 26th. I think this would have been my grandmother’s birthday.

(0:35 – 0:43)

Really? Well, I shouldn’t have done it in a creepy Halloween voice. It’s okay, she probably. October 26th, 2026, grandma.

(0:43 – 0:57)

Okay, you know what else is this week? What? National Cat Day. I should have sent you a picture of my cat because she just had, he just had his birthday. Did you send me a picture? Hang on, I got it in.

(0:58 – 1:05)

Hang on, talk amongst yourselves. It looks like you sent it to Teams a couple of weeks ago. To wish him a happy birthday.

(1:06 – 1:12)

And I’m just gonna, oh my goodness, and then you put a little, oh, someone else did the little. Yeah. There’s.

(1:13 – 1:16)

Oh yeah, oh, there. Oh yeah, there’s my cat. Hi, Elliot.

(1:17 – 1:25)

If I pull out my yoga mat, then he thinks he can do yoga. So he’s a yoga cat. It’s not, it’s not the yoga mat, it’s my mat.

(1:25 – 1:35)

Yeah, and so that’s the only time he’s like, I would like to sit on this comfortable mat. Can I just tell you that those cats look like they’re always in charge. Yes.

(1:36 – 1:51)

They have that facial thing of I’m king dot, dot, or queen so-and-so. He also has this look of, I have, what are you talking about? Like, it’s not even inquisitive. I’m already past that, get to today.

(1:52 – 1:59)

Yeah, so he’s awesome, I can’t believe I’ve had him in, well, I haven’t had him in a year. But I bet she’s happy when you feed him though. Huh? But I bet she’s happy when you feed him though.

(2:00 – 2:04)

Well, I mean. You’re my best buddy. I mean, I’m not gonna lie, we have a timed cat feeder.

(2:06 – 2:15)

So I don’t even feed him, he’s just not a great mom. I would have been a great mom if you could have liked it. You just shared that to everybody in the audience.

(2:15 – 2:22)

I had a scheduled feeder for my kids. I would have loved that. Hey, any more? And an app.

(2:23 – 2:27)

Feed me what I need to eat. It’s so great. It’s all good.

(2:27 – 2:39)

So anyway, National Cat Day, so let’s all celebrate. Best week ever. We’ll also celebrate National Dog Day when that comes around too as well to make it fair because some of us are not that big of cat people.

(2:39 – 2:44)

Yeah, that’s true, but. We love cats. They’re so fun.

(2:45 – 2:50)

Okay, so a couple of things going on this week. This is the end of October. Does that seem possible? It is.

(2:51 – 3:00)

So education on November 3rd, the Disaster Ethics Playbook. And so fairness, fidelity, and file defensibility. So.

(3:00 – 3:03)

Say that three times fast. I cannot. I’m not even gonna try.

(3:04 – 3:26)

So this is, you know, when disasters hit, whether it be flood, fire, tornado, whatever, you know, how do you deal with that? Because there’s not a magic fairy that walks around with claims or anything, you just have to figure it out. Catalyit, okay, so finally, get what? Say it. GetLYIT.

(3:26 – 3:33)

Yeah. Their annual conference is this week on October 28th and 29th. You do have to sign in to log in.

(3:34 – 3:39)

So you have to sign up for it. And it’s gonna be kind of focused on AI. Yeah, it’s on the calendar.

(3:40 – 3:48)

So it’s very AI driven. This is gonna be really interesting. And honestly, last year was the first year they did it, and it was really good.

(3:48 – 3:55)

So I think this year is gonna be really good. So October, it’s two days. It’s just a couple of hours each day, 28th and 29th.

(3:55 – 3:58)

Jason and the team. Yeah. They do a great job.

(3:58 – 4:13)

Yeah, yay, Jason. October 29th, then the young agents are doing their community service project, free to live animal sanctuary. So kudos to them for helping the community and helping all those little lost puppies.

(4:13 – 4:29)

And I don’t know if it’s just puppies and kitties or what. So can I ask you this question? Sure. I think the ladies will probably be in with the dogs and such, but I’m afraid that men may have to do some non, some more physical cleaning activities.

(4:30 – 4:32)

Yeah, I don’t know. Yeah. Just wondering.

(4:33 – 4:39)

I mean, I guess if we- Has to be done. It has to be done. And so kudos to them for wanting to do that.

(4:39 – 4:42)

You betcha. Saving the animals. You guys do a great job.

(4:42 – 4:46)

They’re so great. It’s a no kill shelter. It is a, yeah, it is a no kill shelter.

(4:46 – 4:53)

So it’s really cool. Take advantage of that. So we both, you know, Jerry, you and I both have rescued dogs.

(4:53 – 5:08)

And so I feel like it’s been, honestly, our dog has just been a great service to us. We really enjoy her. And she’s so funny because I feel like she’s nothing but thankful she gets to live with us from wherever she came from.

(5:09 – 5:13)

Mine, I think mine forgets where it came from. Oh, no. Yeah.

(5:13 – 5:21)

She’s a part of it. You think this is now her life? So this is it? Yeah, she’s like, she wears my food. Where’s my, it needs to be done by now.

(5:21 – 5:38)

If you got a, like an automatic feeder. Didn’t we talk about that last week? Now I will say they have those remote feeders that like to throw the little treats, you know, you can do it from your phone. No.

(5:38 – 5:49)

Oh yes. Have you not? Okay, we’ll talk about this afterwards, but they’re little, you can pull it up on your phone. It’s got the camera and everything, and you can give it a treat, shoot a treat across the room.

(5:49 – 5:51)

Funny. They love it. Okay.

(5:51 – 5:59)

I don’t have one for the dog, but my daughter had one for her dogs. Okay. Then they tore it apart and knocked it over and got the rest of the food all in one shot.

(5:59 – 6:04)

Yeah, they do get smart. They do get smart. So, well, okay.

(6:04 – 6:08)

So busy week. We’re going to close out the month. Board meeting this week too.

(6:09 – 6:12)

So we have a board meeting to meet with our lovely board. Yep. Yep.

(6:12 – 6:20)

And we got a holiday and everything is coming up in our month. Gosh, it’s so fast. So I guess we should say happy Halloween.

(6:21 – 6:27)

Yes, that is this week. That is this week. For the three kids that come by our house to get candy.

(6:27 – 6:40)

You know what? We don’t ever have any, because we live in a neighborhood that didn’t even really have children, because it’s old. Is that why they don’t come by? I mean, yeah, I don’t know. Okay, yeah.

(6:40 – 6:44)

So anyway, happy Halloween, everyone. That’s right. Okay.

(6:44 – 6:46)

Have a good week. Have a good week. Thanks.

(6:46 – 6:47)

See you. Bye. Bye-bye.
